It's more than that for the first half or so of the game. They are generous in their time allowance, IMO. But most timed missions I get out with 2-4 turns to spare. It's a lot of fun to manage to get everyone out on the last turn, after killing a bunch of guys from an air drop the turn before.

But the majority of them are not difficult to complete on time, and it actually adds intensity to the action. Originally posted by Whiplash:I would say that 1/2 to 1/3rd of the missions are timed.

The final mission is also not timed.but there is another pressure mechanism. As the game goes on you'll have more untimed missions compared to timed missions as you start to progress through the plot more quickly. You have plenty of time to be careful on those missions. The more "major" missions that are directly related to advancing the plot and reducing the doom counter are NOT timed. VIP missions appear randomly and those are also timed as mentioned above. Approximately once every 4-12 weeks to also get a "retaliation" mission that is "soft" timed (no turn timer but every turn the enemy kills a civilian and you need to save a certain number to succeed). Time limits are 8 turns for non-VIP timed missions and 12 turns for VIP missions.Įvery month you get a "guerilla" mission that is timed.

The other timed missions you just fail if you don't complete within the time limit. The exception are VIP missions.those are brutal because they are timed and you lose your whole team if you don't complete the mission successfully in the allotted time. Personally I really hate the idea of timed missions, but I don't mind most of them in XCOM 2. It's one of those things that new players complain about before they've really given the game a shot. They are not nearly as bad as people complain about. Basically the game is a mix of timed and untimed missions.
